A Black Swallowtail was flitting around the garden nectaring on the Red Pentas and laying eggs on the parsley. |

Went for a walk in the garden with Sadie this morning. I saw hundreds of newly hatched tadpoles in the pond. A Giant Swallowtail was nectaring at the Red Pentas. Could it have been attracted by the scent of the lemon tree blooming? The Polydamus Swallowtail caterpillars are growing. We have a few huge ones, as well as some that are still about 1/2" long. They continue to hang out in groups even though they are so large. There are about a dozen newly hatched Black Swallowtail caterpillars on the Parsley and Dill. |
